Almost Famous celebrated their opening night on November 3rd at Broadway's Jacobs Theatre. The musical, based on Academy Award-winning writer Cameron Crowe's film, while including some indelible favorite tunes from the film also stars a new score by composer Tom Kitt with Crowe also credited as lyricist in addition to being the show's book writer.
William Miller, a 15-year-old aspiring music journalist played by Casey Likes, gets the opportunity to cover the tour of rock-and-roll band Stillwater. As the show shares, "it's a celebration of community, family, fandom and the power of music." Along with Likes, the musical stars Solea Pfeiffer in her Broadway debut as the iconic Penny Lane, Chris Wood in his Broadway debut taking on the role of Russell Hammond, and Broadway favorite Anika Larsen portraying Elaine Miller.
