There Ain’t No Party Like a Here Lies Love Album Listening Party

The Public Theater’s LuEsther Hall has transformed into one of NYC’s most desirable clubs for the run of David Byrne and Fatboy Slim’s award-winning musical Here Lies Love. The interactive show about Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos (played by the brilliant Ruthie Ann Miles) is an electrifying experience you’ll want to share again and again with friends and loved ones; but if you’re not going to be a repeat attender, you’ll at least want to have the ridiculously fun cast album on constant rotation. BroadwayBox turned up the volume and let loose with Here Lies Love original cast recording, and here’s how we reacted to hearing the songs for the first time.
1. "American Troglodyte" (Ensemble)

No wonder this show is such a hit; it feels like a party already.
2. "Here Lies Love" (Ruthie Ann Miles & Melody Butiu)

Just try not to feel pure, unadulterated joy while listening to this.
3. "Child of the Philippines" (Conrad Ricamore & Ruthie Ann Miles)

Ok, this one makes even the coolest kind of guy want to bust a move. Who knew politics could be so fun?
4. "Opposite Attraction"(Conrad Ricamore & Ruthie Ann Miles)

5. "The Rose of Tacloban" (Ruthie Ann Miles)

There’s a ‘Little Mermaid’ vibe with this song: tropical, sweet, catchy and total Disney princess.
6. "A Perfect Hand" (Jose Llana)

7. "Eleven Days" (Ruthie Ann Miles)

Yes diva!
8. "When She Passed By" (Melody Butiu)

9. "Sugartime Baby" (Ruthie Ann Miles, Jose Llana & Jeigh Madjus)

This track is everything. It’s the subway, the gym, a party, a drive, just hanging at home. It’s everything. Download this one to start.
10. "Walk Like a Woman" (Ruthie Ann Miles)

This song is great; it’s surprisingly sad but still upbeat.
11. "Don't You Agree?/Pretty Face" (Ruthie Ann Miles, Jose Llana & Marie-Christine Oliveras)

12. "Dancing Together" (Ruthie Ann Miles & Marie-Christine Oliveras)

Makes you want to be at an awesome disco…or the Public Theater’s LuEsther Hall.
13. "The Fabulous One" (Conrad Ricamore)

Stop it! This track is so fun. After you listen ‘Sugartime Baby’ download this one next. You won’t stop moving.
14. "Men Will Do Anything" (Marie-Christine Oliveras)

These snaps go to this fabulous song needed on every breakup mix ever and to the ‘Here Lies Love’ album disc one as a whole.
