The 2021 Golden Globe Award Nominations have been announced! Among the nominees for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy are two beloved Broadway musicals - Hamilton and The Prom. The two nominees join a decades long legacy of Broadway musicals that have been adapted for film.

From 1972's Cabaret to 1996's Evita it had been nearly 25 years where the category had been dominated by comedies and even some titles that would be adapted into Broadway musicals (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Mrs. Doubtfire and Tootsie).
