10 Actresses We’d Love to See Star as Eve Harrington in All…

Ivo van Hove’s upcoming stage production of All About Eve lost its Margo Channing. Oscar winner Cate Blanchett withdrew from the production and apparently, Gillian Anderson (another acclaimed Blanche DuBois) is in talks to replace her in the role made iconic by Bette Davis in the 1950 film about Broadway.

While it’s all Margo, Margo, Margo, no one is talking about who will play Eve Harrington, the young snake in the grass who cunningly goes from fan-girl to the brightest stage star of her or any other generation. Here are just 10 actresses we’d love to see take on the title character in a stage adaptation of All About Eve.

1. Nina Arianda

The Tony winner for Venus in Fur and Tony nominee for Born Yesterday has the versatility to really play the Eve arc and actually surprise the audience when she takes that turn.

2. Condola Rashad

A three-time Tony nominee, Condola is one of the great stage actresses of her generation, and what a West End debut that would be for her. She would have audiences on the edge of their seats as she transforms from wide-eyed fan to Machiavellian star.

3. Vanessa Kirby

Known to many as Princess Margaret on Netflix’s The Crown, Vanessa previously starred opposite Gillian Anderson as Stella to her Blanche in Streetcar, and was fabulous (with an award to prove it). This would be such a great moment for the star on the rise.

4. Denise Gough

The Olivier winner for People, Places and Things makes her Broadway debut this season as Harper in Angels in America. This would be a great follow-up gig for an actress whose talents seemingly know no bounds.

5. Saiorse Ronan

The Oscar nominee made her Broadway debut in Ivo van Hove’s The Crucible, and now she is more acclaimed than ever. She could really knock it out the park with a role like this on stage.

6. Lupita Nyong’o

The Oscar winner made a smashing, heartbreaking Broadway debut in Eclipsed, and to get her back on stage would be such a treat, especially in a role with as much depth as Eve.

7. Natalie Dormer

The British star is a proven stage actress and an international name thanks to Game of Thrones. Her performance as Margaery Tyrell feels like kin to Eve Harrington—audiences would eat that up!

8. Emma Stone

Emma Stone’s Sally Bowles was wonderful in the Broadway revival of Cabaret. If the Oscar winner wanted to make her British stage debut, this could be just the perfect high-profile project.

9. Margot Robbie

The Oscar nominee proved just what she can do in I, Tonya, and why not see if it all translates to stage.

10. Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan is a creature of the stage who just happens to also be a very successful film star. The Oscar and Tony nominee would make a feast of a role like Eve Harrington.
