Each day, the Bbox team trolls YouTube for the hot clip—sometimes it's a brand-new moment and sometimes it's a throwback to an oldie but goodie. No matter what praise hands are shot up, pearls are clutched and the repeat button is hit.

#StartListening | Joshua Jackson & Lauren Ridloff | TEDxBroadway

Ulterior Motives: Joshua Jackson, of TV's Dawson's Creek fame and most recently Little Fires Everywhere and The Affair, made his Broadway debut in 2018 as James Leeds in the first Broadway revival of the Kenny Leon directed Children of a Lesser God. It also happens to be Joshua's birthday today. We attended this special Ted X Broadway event and this was our first introduction to the revival starring this talented duo. Opposite Joshua portraying Sarah Norman, Lauren Ridloff was wonderful in her Broadway debut. She is a superstar in her own right as a former Miss Deaf America and last year becoming the first deaf superhero in Marvel films.

Ultimate 🙌 🙌 moment: It might not be a clip clocking in at eighteen minutes but it is definitely worth the watch. Joshua recalls the story of the show's first read through. Lauren's journey with the show began having taught ASL to Kenny Leon which ultimately led to her acting opposite Joshua for this first read through.

What comes next is a story of trust, listening to each other, learning about each others challenges and how they worked together successfully for this first read through. At 13:24, Lauren detailed where their bond strengthened by the small step Joshua made to learn pieces of ASL even though he had an interpreter present for this read through. She was able to overcome a challenge that day with the trust in the room.
