Jersey Boys vs Mamma Mia Jukebox

Produced by Dodger Theatricals, Jersey Boys premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse in October 2004 and originally starred David Norona as Frankie Valli. A year later, the musical began previews at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre. It ran for a total of 4,680 performances, closing on Jan 15, 2017. The original won 2006 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical for John Lloyd Young (Frankie Valli), Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Christian Hoff (Tommy DeVito), and Best Lighting Design of a Musical for Howell Binkley. In addition to Young & Hoff, the OBC Four Seasons included Daniel Reichard in his Broadway debut as Bob Gaudio and J. Robert Spencer as Nick Massi.

The musical went on to play national and international tours, the West End, Vegas, and Australia. It was turned into a film in 2014 directed by Clint Eastwood and starring John Lloyd Young reprising his Tony-winning performance opposite Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda, & Vincent Piazza.

Shortly after ending the Broadway run, Jersey Boys returned to New York beginning its current smash off-Broadway run at New World Stages on November 22, 2017. The current company includes Aaron De Jesus as Valli, Sam Wolf as DeVito, Cory Jeacoma as Gauido, and Mark Edwards as Massi.
