Annie Golden, Broadway Bounty Hunter & Broadway Badass

If you could get yourself to Pittsfield, Massachusetts before September 4, you have to check out Joe Iconis’ new musical Broadway Bounty Hunter at Barrington Stage Company.

Inspired by the exploitation movies of the 1970s (think Shaft  or Enter the Dragon), this exciting new musical follows a 60-ish-year-old, down-on-her-luck actor Annie (starring Annie Golden) as she’s asked to become a bounty hunter and capture a South American drug lord.

Perhaps the most exciting thing about this show is that it’s all about Ms. Annie Golden (who Netflix bingers know and love as mute Norma on Orange Is the New Black), and that's all the reason we need to kick back and enjoy a full-out Golden YouTube spiral.

"Good Morning Baltimore" (Hairspray)

Yup, Golden did the demos, and it's heavenly.

"Somewhere That's Green/Suddenly Seymour" (Little Shop of Horrors)

"Memory" (Cats)

I'm here for that. I like a grit and history with my Griz.

"Be My Baby" (Leader of the Pack)

"Frank Mills" (Hair)

And the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day.

"Unworthy of Your Love" (Assassins)

"It's a Woman's World" (The Full Monty)

So many gems in here but what we want begins at 27 minutes in.

"On My Way" (Violet)

"Dead End" (Hair)

One last wonderfully-sung Hair moment.
