Nichelle Lewis will be playing the iconic role in the musical revival as it embarks on its national tour this fall. She has appeared in the national tour as a Dynamite in Hairspray, Chiffon and Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors, Ivy in Bare: A Pop Opera as well as Labelless, a new musical. Lewis joins Deborah Cox as Glinda, Melody A. Betts as Aunt Em/Evillene, Kyle Ramar Freeman as the Lion, Phillip Johnson Richardson as the Tinman and Avery Wilson as the Scarecow. Wayne Brady will portray the Wiz on Broadway in Spring of 2024, San Francisco, and Los Angeles while Alan Mingo, Jr. will portray The Wiz when the tour kicks off in Baltimore.
