Debutantes, Disco and Divas Lead This Week’s Campy Editor’s…

Each week, BroadwayBox editor Josh Ferri narrows down all the happenings in NYC to three can’t-miss events. This week, we spotlight three events so fun we can hardly contain ourselves.

3. There’s a Staunch Character Taking Over 54 Below
Edie Beale, the world’s first reality star, is making a rare live appearance at 54 Below on December 30. Well, actually Jeffrey Johnson is appearing as the Grey Gardens icon as he flawlessly recreates Beale’s famous 1978 cabaret show from Reno Sweeney’s. So don your best revolutionary costume for the day and check out Edie Beale: Live at Reno Sweeney.

2. Beaches, Boardwalk & Bette: A Gay Fantasia
The seminal ‘80s tearjerker Beaches comes to life at 54 Below on January 5. Phil Geoffrey Bond hosts Under the Boardwalk: 54 Sings Beaches, and everyone from the hand-walking queer to Otto Titsling will be in attendance. There hasn’t been a ticket this hot since Sizzle ‘76 .

1. Hustle Over to Disaster! to Relive the Glory of the ‘70s
Speaking of 1976, there’s a fabulous, fun and sidesplitting new musical wowing the crowds off-Broadway. Disaster!, written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, blends beloved disco hits with '70s disaster movies to create a unique evening filled with laughter. The cast is simply sensational— you can’t find disco classics sung so well anywhere else. Treat yourself to a disastrous night at the theater!
