Birdland’s Kinky Night, Tonya Pinkins' Starry Party & Kissi…

Each week, BroadwayBox editor Josh Ferri narrows down all the happenings in NYC to three can’t-miss events. This week, it’s all about three can’t-miss, star-studded Broadway concerts.

3. Let Your True Colors Shine at Birdland
Having trouble snagging a ticket to the Tony-winning musical Kinky Boots? Well, fear not. The talented cast and their Tony & Grammy-winning composer/lyricist Cyndi Lauper are getting together at Birdland on December 16 at 7 PM for the True Colors Cabaret. Attendees at this hot holiday bash can expect to rock out to standards, pop hits and more. The evening of merriment benefits the True Colors Fund, Lauper’s organization raising awareness and funds for LGBT homeless youth; and let’s face it, it’s not often you get to be Kinky and charitable in the same night.

2. It’s a Time to Belt for Tonya Pinkins, Stephanie J. Block & More
Tony winner Tonya Pinkins is recruiting her ridiculously talented friends for a one-night-only concert benefiting the NAACP’s Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Featuring the music of Rupert Holmes, the show includes performances by Pinkins, her Time to Kill co-stars Patrick Page and Sebastian Arcelus, Arcelus’ Tony-nominated wife Stephanie J. Block, Tony winner Chuck Cooper and Tony nominee Norm Lewis. Rather than kicking yourself while watching bootleg YouTube clips next week, head down at 54 Below on December 18 to experience these theater favorites live.

1. Go Under the Mistletoe with Ashley Brown
You know Pandora Christmas station can only go so far; it’s not really Christmas until you hear these cherished holiday tunes filling up Carnegie Hall. Broadway leading lady Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins) teams up with the New York Pops to present Under the Mistletoe with Ashley Brown at Carnegie Hall on December 19 and 20. Lose yourself in this practically perfect holiday extravaganza, musically directed by Steven Reineke.
