About When the Lights Go On Again on Broadway
Story for When the Lights Go On Again
After two critically acclaimed runs, WHEN THE LIGHTS GO ON AGAIN will be back to delight audiences young and old with the memorable and heartwarming music of the 1940's World War II era. Max Weintraub, a World War II veteran, takes you on a nostalgic journey back to the war years, with beautiful music that is just as relevant today as it was then.
An up and coming quartet singing group, The Moonlighters, is trying to land their dream job with the legendary Glenn Miller band. Their story is told through a live WNEW radio broadcast from the ballroom of the Roosevelt Hotel with the help of over 20 hit songs from the 1940's. When the Lights Go On Again reflects the myriad emotions of a country at war and the sacrifices it made to achieve victory.
The show features the delightful and timeless melodies of Irving Berlin, Glenn Miller, Johnny Mercer, Frank Loesser, Sammy Cahn, the Andrews Sisters, and so many more. You'll hear "Moonlight Serenade," "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree," "Nancy, With the Laughing Face," "The GI Jive," "The White Cliffs of Dover," and "When the Lights Go On Again All Over the World," among many others.
