Story for Public Servant

Theatre Breaking Through Barriers celebrates its 40th Anniversary season with the World Premiere of PUBLIC SERVANT by Bekah Brunstetter (The Cake, Co-writer and producer of NBC’s Emmy-winning This Is Us, and the new TV series based on the musical Oklahoma). In Public Servant, a newly elected County Commissioner, with his daughter by his side, is going to change the world -- or at least his little corner of it. He meets a world weary woman who only needs a city inspector to sign off on some paperwork. Yet, no action. She turns to the commissioner for help with this simple request. But in politics, is anything ever simple?

PUBLIC SERVANT is directed by Geordie Broadwater and stars Christine Bruno (Screw You, Jimmy Choo!, TBTB's Still More Of Our Parts), Chris Henry Coffey("Joe DiMaggio" in Bronx Bombers on Broadway, David Schwimmer's Trust) and Anna Lentz (Humana Festival, Actors Theatre of Louisville).

Critics’ Reviews for Public Servant

"Heartwarming! Brunstetter has emerged as a poet of peace in a time of raging culture war. PUBLIC SERVANT confronts the audience with the possibility that the biggest obstacle to progress is sometimes our own stubbornness."

Theatermania

"Gripping! Deceptively simple and deceptively smart!"

Theater News

"A terrific three-hander! Superb performances!"
