About Macbeth In Original Pronunciation - Off Broadway

Show Info

The Shakespeare OP Players bring our playwright's shortest and arguably most fascinating tragedy, Macbeth, to The American Theatre of Actors, 314 W. 54th St. in Manhattan 1-24 February 2013. We present our play in OP, Original Pronunciation, i.e. Early Modern English as spoken in the late 16th-early 17th century in London, that great melting-pot of regional dialects. A fresh interpretation based on recent scholarship unveiling the true meaning of the play features strong focus on the demonic elements (and Witches galore!) that sweep Macbeth and his Lady onto their gory path of slaughter, subversion of the civil order, and ultimate damnation.

Length: 2 hrs no intermission
