About A Brush with Georgia O'Keeffe on Broadway
Story for A Brush with Georgia O'Keeffe
Robert Z. Kalfin, founder/artistic director of The Chelsea Theater Center (winner of 5 Tony Awards, 4 Tony Nominations and 21 Obie Awards), is directing A Brush with Georgia O'Keeffe, a new play by Natalie Mosco, which focuses on the American painter, Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986), one of the most important female artists of the twentieth century. It considers the private O’Keeffe and the public O’Keeffe and spans approximately ninety-five years of a remarkable life. Born in the late-nineteenth-century on farmlands in Wisconsin, O’Keeffe managed to escape the limitations of gender, poverty, and isolation to become "the most distinguished American female artist of the twentieth century." Inevitably, the question is "how?" This new play answers that question with grace, passion and wit.
