The Fantasticks tells the story of two neighboring fathers who build a wall between their houses to ensure their two children fall in love—knowing children always do what their parents forbid. After the young lovers discover the plot, each goes off alone to experience the world before returning to each other again. The boy and girl are neighbors who fall in love, break up, and go off to see the world. On their adventures they grow, and with a greater understanding of what it means to be in love, eventually find their way home to one another.

The famous score, which includes the classics "Try To Remember," "They Were You" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain," is as timeless as the story itself.

On March 3, The Fantasticks celebrated its 53rd anniversary in New York.
