Inspired by the Fischer-Spassky chess matches at the height of the Cold War, Benny Andersson, Tim Rice, and Bjorn Ulvaeus' CHESS pits American and Russian masters against each other in Merano and Bangkok, where Florence Vassy who manages one, falls for the other, in this new through-composed version of the musical based on the original Concept Album and virtually all of the London score.
Tony Award-nominee Robert Cuccioli (Jekyll & Hyde, Les Miserables, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), Helen Hayes Award-winner Natascia Diaz (The Capeman, La Mancha, Tick, Tick...BOOM!), Drew Sarich (Lestat, Les Miserables, Rocky), Tamra Hayden (Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Cabaret), Raymond Jaramillo McLeod (Jekyll & Hyde, Tale of Two Cities), and modern dance legend Gus Solomons Jr. will star in a special "In Concept" Benefit Concert of the musical CHESS by Benny Andersson, Tim Rice and Bjorn Ulvaeus.
Directed by International director/composer Christopher Martin (founding artistic director of Classic Stage Company), with musical direction by Valerie Sciarra.
