great great show!!! my favorite right now on broadway! great acting, story, and music! what else can you ask for? i noticed some people complained about the profanities by being in my twenties and growing up with sopranos and hip-hop i didn't even notice the use of profanities. come on people, it is a story about blue collar italian-american boys from new jersey. a dose of profanities is kind of expected.

Enough already aboutteh language
Review by: eastside, Jun 9, 2008

I am writing this review BEFORE seeing the show in about a week and a half, while listening to 4 Seasons music in the background. I can't believe how many people, in 2008, are SO uptight about some language, typically the same thing heard in the locker room, in dugouts everywhere, and at most workplaces. This is a story about street kids from Jersey, people. I am a street kid from Cleveland, and I anticipate nothing more than I heard ... read more every day of my young life, and what I have heard ever since. You all need to chill out. Maybe listen to some rap and see what your teenaged kids are downloading...

A MUST SEE!
Review by: Elizabeth, Jun 7, 2008

Very, very good show! I saw it in Cincinnati and was blown away! I was not expecting it to be as good as everyone was saying it would be, but wow. In my opinion, it is a show for not only people who grew up listening to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons when they first came out, but also for younger audiences also. I am 17 years old, and loved all of the music. While I was brought up listening to the music, I loved how the music was explained ... read more and intertwined through the story. Yes, there were profanities, but people need to get over that. For someone, like me, who has seen over 20 Broadway productions, I can say this is one of the best I have ever seen.

A MUST SEE....GOLLY GEE!!!!
Review by: AMY, Jun 2, 2008
|
|
This show is amazing and the language some seem to be concerned about had to be there if the story was going to be believable. A "golly gee Frankie" just would not have been REAL. Come on people get over yourselves. I have been to many, many Broadway shows and this show is AMAZING!!!! DON'T MISS IT...you will be sad and I "golly gee" mean it!!!! If you DON'T want to see a an unforgettable, biographical and believable show with heart pounding ... read more music...go see MARY POPPINS, that way there will be more seats available for me to see the show again!

Profanity not offensive
Review by: Girlsgonebroadway, May 20, 2008

I forgot to mention that I was not offenced by the use of the "f" word. After reading some reviews I was concerned but the usage was minimal and fit the situation. Not like the Sopranos where every other word was the "f" word. I still would not take kids but for adults it is not bad.

Standing ovation.
Review by: Girlsgonebroadway, May 20, 2008

I stood for this show and loved every minute. In fact, I had way more fun than those poor folks who paid to sit in the last row in front of me. At least I could dance to the music in my spot. I missed some action on the top of the stage but I could bend down and see some of it. They sell 10 spaces at $27 cash two hours before the show. I went on a whim, never planned to see the show because I knew it was sold out. Actually there are always ... read more seats but at regular price. A must if you grew up in Jersey in the 60's.

A magical night in the theater
Review by: Sandra from NJ, May 20, 2008
|
|
We saw this show right when it opened - it was a magical night at the theater. The actor playing Frankie Valli had a voice as good or better than the original, and the audience gave standing ovations after every musical number! We bought the CD and enjoy listening to it often to relive the experience of the show. Don't miss this one.

I only give it a "C"
Review by: Mary, May 9, 2008

I went with a few co-workers. We waited over six months to go to get 5 tickets together, and yet our seats were poor and there was obstructed view, although we paid full price $121 each. We were in center mezzanine, but so much of performance is at very center/top end of stage, they don't move around much, that if don't have a tiny person in front ofyou, you will see little of the performance. That is what happened to me and one other in ... read more my group. Second half of performance picked up pace and somewhat entertaining and interesting. First act was slow to me. Show was cute, but jokes were corny and dated to me. I see Broadway about many, many times a year, so have seen a lot, and this was just OK, entertaining, but I'm surprised how much everyone loves this show. Maybe if I had better visibitlity, I would have gotten more into it. I could have been distracted. I'd give it a C. And language was tame... a few curse words used appropriately, when young men in the entertainment industry would be talking it up to one another.

Great show, be forewarned about language.
Review by: Sue, Apr 26, 2008
|
|
As a baby boomer I loved the music and was not personally offended, but would not recommend this for anyone younger than 14 or 15 or people who are offended by the f word and the constant use of a--hole. There should be a notation somewhere regarding the adult language to allow people to be properly forewarned. There were school kids in the matinée we saw, but if I were a teacher I would not have taken my class to see this!
