The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial Tickets

Set in 1945, this play centers a young lieutenant who commandeered the U.S.S. Caine during a typhoon in World War II. In order to get the lieutenant out of the charges, his lawyer (David Schwimmer) must prove that the ship's commander (Zeljko Ivanek) was mentally incapable of leading his men or controlling the ship. The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial was first seen on Broadway in 1954 and starred Henry Fonda in Schwimmer's role. It was then revived at the Circle in the Square in 1983 and made into a 1988 TV movie starring Jeff Daniels, Eric Bogosian and Peter Gallagher.

The Lyceum Theatre was built by producer Daniel Frohman in 1903. It was purchased in 1940 by a group of producers and later changed hands to the Shuberts where it has remained ever since. The building has been declared a landmark and still uses Frohman's former apartment above the theater as the Shubert Archive.

The Lyceum is Broadway's oldest continually operating legitimate theater.

Story for The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial

The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial is the classic courtroom suspense drama about a naval lieutenant on trial for mutiny in wartime. Adapted by Herman (Marjorie Morningstar) Wouk from his Pulitzer Prize winning-novel “The Caine Mutiny,” this new production will star David Schwimmer and two time Tony® nominee Zeljko Ivanek in the legendary roles of Lieutenant Barney Greenwald and Lieutenant Commander Philip Francis Queeg. Four time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks will stage the production.
