Story for Ten Chimneys

A sparkling comedy of manners about the most famous acting couple in the history of the American theater - the Lunts! Ten Chimneys takes place on the Lunts' legendary Wisconsin estate in 1938. Also in attendance are Alfred's beloved mother (not beloved to Lynn!) as well a young actress, Uta Hagen, and the "fat man" himself, Sydney Greenstreet.

Over the course of a weekend, it gradually becomes clear that Ms. Hagen is angling to trade places with Lynn, both onstage and off, while poor Alfred's thoughts are prone to stray to a small hotel in town where his college "roommate" is staying.

In the midst of this roundelay of suppressed desire, there is the production of Chekhov's The Seagull being rehearsed poolside by all four exceedingly temperamental actors. Hilarious and heartwarming, Ten Chimneys uncovers the depth of truth, loyalty and love in the private lives of these giants of the American theater!

The Peccadillo Theater Company presents the New York City premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher's Ten Chimneys.
