Jackie Hoffman in “Scraping the Bottom at Baruch!” as part of the Solo in the City series. The Obie-winning actress Jackie Hoffman gets in your face, up close and personal as she reflects upon her life, from fachadick relatives to pop culture icons. Jackie Hoffman is mostly known for her one-woman NYC theater shows of Jewish-themed original song and monologue. She is a veteran of Chicago’s famed Second City comedy group, during which time she won the Joseph Jefferson Award, Chicago’s venerable theater award.

Hoffman has starred in the solo comedy performances If You Call This Living, The Kvetching Continues, Jackie Hoffman’s Hanukkah, A Chanukah Carol, Jackie’s Kosher Khristmas and Jackie’s Valentine Day Massacre. She performed in David and Amy Sedaris’ 2001 play The Book of Liz, winning an Obie Award. Her other theatrical credits include The Sisters Rosensweig, Straightjacket, Incident at Cobbler’s Knob, and One Woman Shoe, for which she won a Jeff Award. She regularly performs at Joe’s Pub in NYC. In 2002, Hoffman was cast in the musical Hairspray on Broadway and she won the 2003 Theatre World Award for her performance. She co-starred in the musical Xanadu on Broadway from 2007-2008. Most recently, Hoffman starred as Grandmama in the Broadway musical The Addams Family. She has acted in the movies Kissing Jessica Stein, Mo’ Money, Garden State, and Legally Blonde 2. She has appeared in many TV series including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hope and Faith, Ed, Starved, Cosby, and 30 Rock. She has also been a frequent guest on Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
