About Incident at Vichy on Broadway
Story for Incident at Vichy
In the detention room of a Vichy police station in 1942, eight men have been picked up for questioning. Why are they there? What have they done? More than a Holocaust drama, Miller expertly weaves the fears, concerns, uncertainty, and self-denial of a disparate group awaiting an unspeakable fate. There is no good or evil, no black and white – only delusion, complicity, silence, and resolve. A gentile Austrian prince inexplicably detained, the fish out of water, becomes the focal point as he clashes with a Jewish doctor and must make a life-or-death moral decision. Emotionally captivating and intellectually stimulating, Miller shows that doing nothing can be damning and inaction can destroy.
