About Crazy Mary on Broadway
Story for Crazy Mary
In an attempt to account for the family inheritance, the scion of a moneyed Buffalo, NY clan (three-time Academy Award nominee Sigourney Weaver) and her willful, college-aged son visit their long lost cousin Mary. The catch: Mary is living in an asylum for the wealthy insane, and has barely spoken in years, forcing mother and son to employ radical ends to get through.Appearing with Ms. Weaver are two-time Obie Award winner Kristine Nielsen (Miss Witherspoon; Betty's Summer Vacation), Michael Esper (subUrbia), Mitchell Greenberg (The Right Kind of People), and Myra Lucretia Taylor (Fabulation).
A.R. Gurney's more than thirty plays include The Dining Room, The Perfect Party, Another Antigone, The Old Boy, Later Life, and A Cheever Evening (all at Playwrights Horizons); The Cocktail Hour; Love Letters; Sylvia; Mrs. Farnsworth; and Indian Blood.
Two time Obie Award-winner Jim Simpson's directing credits include Mrs. Farnsworth by A.R. Gurney; The Guys; Demonology and Psych (Playwrights Horizons); and Nixon's Nixon. He is the Artistic Director of The Flea Theater.
