Al Pacino brings his sensational performance as Shylock to the Broadway stage in October 2010 with the Public Theater's production of The Merchant of Venice, directed by Daniel Sullivan.
A young man named Antonio pledges a pound of his own flesh to Shylock, a moneylender, so a friend can woo his lady-love in style. Antonio learns a lesson in loyalty, friendship, humanity and prejudice when the revenge-seeking Shylock comes to collect and he is unable to pay.
Pacino and Sullivan expertly tackle one of Shakespeare's most controversial plays, and offer modern audiences a new take on this play. The Merchant of Venice is suitable for aged 11 and upwards.
The Merchant of Venice performance dates:
Previews from 19th October 2010
