About The Tiger Lillies Suicide for Christmas on Broadway
Story for The Tiger Lillies Suicide for Christmas
Following sold-out Halloween shows at St. Ann's Warehouse, the Tiger Lillies return by popular demand, premiering a characteristically wicked set of holiday songs to celebrate the end of the year. The Tiger Lillies are nothing short of an international cult phenomenon, with a decades-long career spent fusing the spirit of punk with the passion of Left Bank Paris and the savagery of Dickensian underculture.
The Tiger Lillies, who began their American career as the darlings of the Off-Broadway hit, Shockheaded Peter, are Martyn Jacques (vocals, accordion), Adrian Stout (bass) and Adrian Huge (percussion). Jacques has elicited such colorful appellations as "the criminal castrati [sic]" and "Tom Waits on helium." His corrosive lyrics are deepened by the angelic voice he employs to deliver them and the startling music he writes to accompany them.
