In this fanciful "lost" epic from the pen of Charles Dickens, penniless Penny wanders a deliciously comic and convoluted maze of curious relationships, benevolent benefactors, and astonishing self-discovery. Set in Victorian England, it tells the story of young Penny Penniworth whose childhood love is driven out of town after nearly killing a wealthy businessman. Soon, Penny finds herself penniless, left alone to make her way through a convoluted maze of strange relationships, anonymous benefactors and ultimate justice.
EMERGING ARTISTS THEATRE presents the Off-Broadway Premiere of PENNY PENNIWORTH by Chris Weikel. This spoof of Dickens, directed by Mark Finley, begins previews October 1 at TADA Theatre. Opening night is scheduled for October 5.
