Named after the English-born playwright George H. Broadhurst, the theater opened in 1917 with George Bernard Shaw's Misalliance. It was designed by Herbert J. Krapp and offers 1,115 seats with no obstructed views.
The theater resides next to the Shubert Theatre and is owned by the same organization. As a venue made for musicals and plays, it has handled both with ease through its duration.

Story for Lucky Guy
Lucky Guy marks a return to Ephron’s journalistic roots in a new Broadway play about the scandal- and graffiti-ridden New York of the 1980s, as told through the story of the charismatic and controversial tabloid columnist Mike McAlary.
From McAlary's his sensational reporting of New York police corruption case, to the libel suit that nearly ended his career, the play dramatizes tells the story of McAlary’s meteoric rise, fall, and rise again, ending with his coverage of the Abner Louima case for which he won the Pulitzer Prize shortly before his untimely death on Christmas Day, 1998.
