Tickets at Hayes Theater

The Hayes Theater was built by producer Winthrop Ames in 1912 as The Little. It was built as a rebellion of sorts against commercial theater—as the auditorium only held 299 seats. In the 1950s it was used to record radio and TV, including The Merv Griffin Show.

In 1983, it was renamed after beloved American actress Helen Hayes, following the destruction of a theatre by the same name in the previous year. When it’s not being used for legitimate theater, CBS still uses the venue for radio recordings.

Story for Linda Vista

Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award® winner Tracy Letts (August: Osage County) returns to Second Stage (Mary Page Marlowe, Man from Nebraska) with a brutally comedic look at Wheeler, a 50-year-old divorcee in the throes of a mid-life spiral. Just out of his ex-wife’s garage and into a place of his own, Wheeler starts on a path toward self-discovery — navigating blind dates, old friends, and new love. Full of opinions, yet short on self-examination, Wheeler must reconcile the man he has become with the man he wants to be.
