Story for The Good Earth
Direct from the UK in its US premiere! Inspired by true events, The Good Earth is the explosive story of a Welsh village fighting to save their homes and mountain. The narrative gives a glimpse into the anti-establishment sentiment that partly led to the recent “Brexit” vote. Unraveled through physical theatre, this highly trained company brings to life a valley torn apart by their council, big business and eventually themselves. Includes a unique blend of Welsh humor and Eastern European physically-based theatre. Featuring Welsh folk songs sung in the Welsh language. Directed by “one of the most powerful and influential women in Welsh theatre” (Wales Online), Rachael Boulton (director of Blackout at the Royal National Theatre in London). Playing at The Flea in New York prior to its second UK tour. Produced by RCT Theatres, Wales Millennium Centre, and Arts Council Wales.
Critics’ Reviews for The Good Earth
"This 80-minute play flies by. Comic and celebratory, melodic and mournful, it’s an elegy for a place that’s not dead yet."
