The Flashdance Musical is scheduled to transfer to
Broadway in August, 2013. The musical is a stage adaptation on the eponymous 1983 Paramount Picture. It premiered in July 2008 at the Theatre Royal Plymouth, UK, followed by a UK tour and West End run, with a US tour headed for Broadway.
Flashdance is the story of Alex Owens, a 18-year-old Pittsburgh welder-turned-dance sensation. With no formal training, Alex uses her natural talent and streetwise dance sensibility to obtain a place in the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy. Along the way, she finds support from her fellow dancers and friends.
