Story for Bob Newhart
Television star and comedian Bob Newhart was born in Chicago, Illinois. An accountant who created monologues as a diversion, he became famous with a best-selling recording of his first nightclub engagement, The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart (1960). A low-key satirist, he starred in a series of television sitcoms, The Bob Newhart Show (1971–8), Newhart (1982–90), and Bob (1992). In 2013, Newhart won the first Emmy Award of his career. He picked up one of the famed golden statues for his guest spot on the popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
