Jake Ehrenreich has written and stars in this autobiographical new musical comedy that tells the story of his first generation American journey. Featuring a diverse array of music and multi-media images, Jake is joined on stage by four accomplished musician/singers. Together they recall his unique childhood, and his struggle to balance his survivor family's history with his identity as a "real American."
THE SHOW AND STAR YOU'VE HEARD ABOUT is back in the heart of Broadway — direct from its' sold out North American tour! Playwright/performer Jake Ehrenreich (and a great live band!) takes you on a laugh out loud, sometimes tearful, always delightful roller coaster journey in his "tour de force" comedy musical about life as a baby boomer child of Holocaust survivors in 1960s Brooklyn. From the classic rock of his youth to his mother's Yiddish lullabye-to an unbelievable recreation of a Catskills nightclub (highlighted by a multi-instrumental version of Sing Sing Sing), come see why the Toronto Star called A Jew Grows In Brooklyn "one of the most touching, soulful, laugh out loud shows you'll ever see!", the Philadelphia Inquirer raved "Very funny! An uplifting treasure... Universally appealing!", and the Los Angeles Times called it "Special and profound... engaging, thoughtful and elegant!"
