About A Summer Day on Broadway
Story for A Summer Day
A man goes out on the water every day. He'll be back soon. But I feel so anxious. It's probably nothing. A Summer Day is set in an idyllic, but isolated old house overlooking the water, and in two different times, A Summer Day captures the dilemma of love in the moment, as well as a distant memory. Fosse's poetic, haunting, everyday language reminds us of potential in every moment and the suspense of being alive. The visit of an Elderly Friend to an Elderly Woman sparks the memory of the Friend's first visit to the house and the mysterious disappearance of her friend's husband. Fosse's play is a meditation on loss.
A Summer Day is written by Jon Fosse, and is directed and translated by Sarah Cameron Sunde.
Featuring: Carlo Alban (References to Salvado Dali Make Me Hot, 'Sesame Street') Karen Allen ('Indiana Jones,' Monday After the Miracle), McCaleb Burnett (The Normal Heart, A Little Journey), Maren Bush (Purge & The Raven, The Merchant of Venice), Pamela Shaw (Psycho Therapy, A Play on the Times), Samantha Soule (The Philanthropist, Dinner At Eight).
Running time: 120 minutes, including one 15 minute intermission.
