So much expectation...so much disappointment! Review by: saints76, Apr 27, 2011 |
| Firstly I have to say that the horse puppets were magnificent but thats about it I'm afraid. Having read the book I was expecting to be sobbing my heart out at the end, but this production changed the story to such an extent that both myself and my partner found it really disjointed and couldn't form the sort of emotional attachment we expected to. I was desperate to see this and didn't want to admit how little I was enjoying it but the truth is ... read more that while you can marvel at the puppetry, the production just doesn't hold your interest and by the end we had to admit that we hadn't enjoyed it in the slightest. Also note that this is based on a wonderful childrens book but all the children in the audience looked as unimpressed as we were - I was going to take my nephew but now I know I would have a job to get him to go back in at half time! Sorry to say it but a real disappointment. |

AMAZING SHOW!!! Review by: Peter, Dec 20, 2009 |
When I arrived in London from NY my friend kept telling me about this show and how incredible it was. He kept recommending it. God Bless London and the fact that you have so many shows on your boards that I didn't know if I really wanted to see this one. A puppet play? I really didn't want to see a bunch of people moving puppets. He insisted and we went, him for his second time. I lost it in the end! I never cried so much in the ... read more theater and I felt like a fool but as I looked around I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE!!! I kid you not, EVERYONE around me was dabbing their eyes and sniffling. This show is beautiful. YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO GIVE IT A LOOK! If you don't shed a tear you're not human!!! I wanted to take the Warhorse home!!! |

Superb and heart moving story and production Review by: garry, May 26, 2009 |
| I have just been to see Warhorse at the New London Theatre. I am not a regular theatre goer, but went with my wife as a birthday treat for her, and I cannot overstate how incredibly impressed I was. To say this show includes puppets is like saying the Chelsea Flower show has a few plants. The effect was mind blowing, you very quickly forgot that there were three people operating the two main horses, the effect was so spectacular. The acting ... read more and stage direction were faultless, even though they did have problems with the stage lighting at the start of the second session, this did not detract from such heartfelt and at times moving story, told with superb skill and talent. If you haven't seen this show you should, you will miss out on one of the theatre's great productions. If I had to give it a rating out of ten, it has be an eleven. |

Once is not ewnough! Review by: Jan, Mar 18, 2009 |
| This is probably the most amazing show I have ever seen! Someone must have studied horses in great depth to have perfected their mannerisms - it is hard to believe they are not real! Both moving and funny,I continually had tears in my eyes! Don't miss this it is brilliant whatever your age, I'e been twice and would go again - and again! |
