My Spice Drum Review! Review by: Tony Glazier, Dec 11, 2006 |
I bought tickets for today which happenned to be the Press Night with a curry supper with the cast afterwards. I invited my friend Martha and her 13 y.o. daughter Shylene.
The show is a fusion of narration, music, dance and mime describing the early days of the history of Capetown when it was a spice trade centre. The story is backed by the bongo style "ghoema" drums, keyboard and guitars very expertly played by the time ... read more served musicians. Most of the audience were clapping with the music during the second half. Some of the Africans dancing too!
My guests and I really enjoyed the show and the warmth and friendliness of the cast who came to greet the visitors at the supper after the show.
If you enjoy lively music, song and dance this is the show for you. Its on until the 27 January so plenty of time. I would even see it for a second time its that good.
