Foot-tapping, standing ovation deserving - FANTASTIC!! Review by: mollykeys, May 16, 2010 |
| Jersey Boys is the best musical I've ever seen. I saw the show in London, and when I returned to New Jersey, I had to see it in New York! The show was surprisingly similar betwee the two places! The British actors did a fantastic job with the Jersey accents, and the Broadway actors were so relatable. Ryan Molloy, West End's Frankie Valli, was fantastic as was Cory Grant, the Frankie on Broadway! I went to the stage door in NYC and everyone was ... read more so nice and grateful for support. The songs will be stuck in your head for weeks...guaranteed - but it's not a bad thing! At times there was crude language, but nothing a 14 year old couldn't handle. The effects were great - the screens were distracting at times, but one of the best scenes was when the Four Seasons were performing, and the audience had their point of view - out into the audience! The dancing was well coordinated and just makes you happy!! I guarantee you will leave smiling! |

Absolutley incredible, a must see!!!! Review by: CharInLoveWithMusicals, Sep 13, 2009 |
The show is incredible, it is a definite Show Stopper..The storyline was Intrigging and the songs were Fantasic. The best musical i have seen in a long time. What was the Show About ??? There is a small band of three people failing to try and find fame, the leader of the group (Tommy Devito) discovers and yoing boy and 16 years with a voice of an angel. His name was Frankie (Francis) Castelluccio. He then joined the band hoping for fame ... read more and fortune. But still the band was failing to get famous. At this time they had called themselves the four lovers. Also Frankie Castelluccio changed his name to Frankie Valli. They then found a songwriter genuis called Bob Gaudio. He wrote lots of hits for the four lovers and their manager love them!!! At this point they then changed their name to The four Seasons. Frankie had married twice, firstly to Mary Delango, which he had three girls with and the second marridge he had three boys with. Unfortunaltley the band decided to split after many years of burning hits , as all this was happening, and Tommy being in debt, Frankie heard some horrible news, His eldest daughter Francine died of a drug overdose at the age of 22. Although the Four Seasons broke up, Frankie carried on with his carrer with Bob Gaudio as his producer, creating extrodinary songs for many years. What Costumes did the band wear?? They wore smart suits, 50's/60's style, the women wore dresses. Who are the characters in the play??? The Four Seasons - Frankie Valli AKA Francis Castelluccio - Tommy Devito - Bob Gaudio - Nick Massi Other Characters - Joe Pesci - Mary Delango - Lorraine - Francine Describe the Physical Setting. The Physical settinbg remains the same throughtout the production, but they project different images on to the stage to represent the scene, also there was some images of the New Jersey sceneary. On the Stage was two lots of stairs on each side of the stage leading up to a bridge. What is the song style in the play??? The style of the play is swing as the play is set in the 60's. Where was the play set??? The play was set in New Jersey where the band started up. What was your Favourite song and why?? Big girls don't cry... it was amazing and upbeat so i was able to dance in my seat and tap my foot. The Show was amazing... its a must see for all the family !!!! |

Fantastic Show Review by: Marti, Jun 25, 2008 |
| I recently saw this play in London while visiting the city. I wanted to see it on Broadway, but was unable to get tickets. It is one of the best plays I ever saw. I grew up in the 60's in New Jersey, so this is very much my music. I disagree with the reviewer that the play is dark. I worried that the London cast would not be up vs the New York cast, but thought everyone was terrific and the accents were right on. It was a play that made ... read more me feel good and I walked out singing all of the Four Seasons songs to myself and frequently playing the CD of the show. Perhaps some British audiences cannot fully relate to the story, as the New York/New Jersey fans can. I hear that whenever a city is mentioned in the play the audience in New York cheers. IMO, it's a must see play and I want to see it again. |

| For me this musical did not work. The irritating snatches of songs and the talking at you and some of the most unimaginative staging I have ever seen just made for a dull evening. May have worked better in smaller theatre but one Broadway import which I have no intention of seeing again. |

would see it again Review by: Juney, Mar 2, 2008 |
| The Jersey Boys was an excellent show which I would love to see again. The singing and acting was great with some real funny scenes and also some sad. Great music but I would have loved a couple more songs at the end of the show as none of us wanted this to end |

I saw this in New York, I don't know how it will be received in London.
It's a very American show....the songs are really classic... I didn't know there was such a serious story behind it. I thought it was rather dark...but the other people in the audience really loved it, and the applause went on for a long time. |
