Forget Madonna!
She did a very good Americanisation for the film - This is the real thing.
This is supposed to be Argentina!! - SPANISH!!!! - Latin America!!!
This production shouts Spanish through & through - and it really is much better for it.
The singing is superb - Rogers is brilliant both vocally and in dance. Her native accent is brilliant, she is very petite and full of life with that Latin American ... read more fire.

We re-watched the Madonna film a week later and really it's not as good as I remembered.
Don't miss out - go and see it before it closes.
A fabulous treat you will not be disappointed.

Very good production of a classic show. Elena Roger was excellent and quite authentic in the pasrt both in looks and accent. Peron was fantastic as well. Great choreograohy and musical arrangement, too. Try to sit toward the center, as side seats will certainly miss much of the action on either balcony.
Only criticisms were of Che: since the Ensemble was obviously using an Argentinian accent to go with Elena Roger's it ... read more really stood out that the actor playing Che sang with overtly British pronunciations (ie.- "Evita Pehr-Ahn"). Also, for the steep price of a West End production, 90 minutes of stage actions leaves the audience feeling a bit short-changed. |
