A very special night Review by: Mrs Ellen Fellows, Jun 5, 2009 |
| This was a very special night. My sister and I have been long time fans of both Cliff and Dora and so we bought tickets and we truly enjoyed this fantastic gala celebrating Dora's career. The big numbers were lavishly put together, Cliff of course was wonderful and the crowd were absolutely enthusiastic. We haven't enjoyed a night out like this for ages. |

An Amazing Evening Review by: Richard Williams, Jun 5, 2009 |
This was an amazing evening! Dora was present at her gala show which paid tribute to her long career with an evening of variety and reminicences. The show's production numbers from Hello Dolly were spectacular my favourite being 'A Comedy Tonight' which contained a fabulous performance from an uncredited man! Sir Cliff although suffering from a sore throat showed us why he's still succesful and Brian Connoly had me and my wife ... read more in histerics. Seeing Rita Tushingham was special too! All in all a fantastic and quite emotional evening. Thanks to all involved!! |

Anita Harris leads the way Review by: MalcomEmms, Jun 3, 2009 |
This well intentioned show, presented by a company specialising in Corporate Shows, showed their expertise faltered when it comes to "Showbiz". The relationship with Dora, who sat in a box to Stage left, was patchy. The good and the grand assembled to perform with a 7 piece band backing. It was all in the doldrums until Anita Harris and Ben Stock took the stage with delightful excerpts from the Musical "G&I". This was the stuff of Showbiz, ... read more immaculate performance, well judged, and Harris finished with a solo song for Dora entitled "Our Show". The song is from the Musical "Bertie" and explains what it takes to be a performer and take the stage. This resonated perfectly with the Acting profession who were a major part of the audience. Harris deservedly stopped the show and made a graceful exit to enthusiastic tumult. The other highlight was witty Dora anecdotes from Liz Fraser. Clif Richard bravely and effectively struggled with a soar throat and the audience cheerfully joined in to sing while Cliff played expert guitar. M. E. |
