| went and took my best mate last year to see Daddy cool and i am shocked at the people who found it boring, lets face it maybe your life is boring aswell. This is one of the best Musicals I have seen along with Mamma Mia and We will rock you. I so desperately want the soundtrack from the musical, excellent, i had goose bumps at the end and was very sad that it wasnt longer. Great fun for me!
I saw the show by chance during my short trip to London 2006 and was more then satified. Just one observation: after the last song people stood up and sang one or two extra songs with the cast.
It's not for you if you expect a complicated plot. But buy the ticket if you like dynamic music and you liked old Boney M stuff. |

Some spectators wrongly expect from a plot of improbable depth. They do not understand, that it is a hit - musical. But it is made very well. We enjoyed this show.
Sony BMG Germany publishes CD " Daddy Cool - The Musical " in the middle of April !

| If you're looking to take a nap then this is the play to be (yawn) What a joke. My boyfriend and I were extremely excited to see the show and then we did....!! | I saw the play on Sat 27 January after we had prebooked tickets. What a waste of money. The acting was amature and the leads were rubbish. The songs were the only great thing about this play (Bonnie M that is) not the nonsensical street rubbish. There were people on stage who also had stage presence but to open their mouth and sing was a letdown. In my opion the total cast on stage that night were in desperate need of further acting lessons ... read more or even reality checks. The standard was totally poor. I personally didnt know any Boney M songs before i went, i recognised a few tunes, but wouldn't have been able to say who it was by or what it was called...
This show was fantastic, the acting was really good and the dancing was amazing. The storyline was very entertaining and the only boring part was the interval.
I would recommend this to anyone, Boney M fan or not. The show is a must see! |

not saying it wasnt good if it was put on by our local brownie pack but a west end show and west end prices please !!!!
what about the snake coming out of the indian was that left over from some other show and they just stuck it in? it looked like it had been made for a school project out of paper mache . |

| saw this show on boxing night we were in a group of 12 was so disapointed not up to west end standard more like a local panto or a holiday show that the reps put on. really poor story line didnt make the most of the boney m songs best bit at the end as the show was nearly over ! and the sing a long which we got up and joined in as we were desperate to enjoy some of it !!! i have never given a show a bad review and love going to the theatre ... read more should be in a local theatre and charge half the price for the seats dont bother to go ... |

| Daddy Cool is totally and complety not cool ! I saw this show last week and it was definately THE poorest theatre-experience I've had in my life. In this I am including various amateur and children productions that I saw in villages in the middle of nowhere in the dutch countryside ! Really...this is London, West End, the heart of theatreland in Europe...how can somebody have the nerve to put this show on such a stage (or on any other for that ... read more matter). The program didn't contain a synopsis nor (except 3 leads) a castlist....that was actually the only thing about the whole Daddy Cool happening that made sense: there is no story ...so there is no synopsis to give and the acting is bad, .. Really, generally I am all for nuance in reviews: this show, however, is the exception to that rule: ...they even manage to get one (quickly)to the point where one starts hating the tunes that one sings along to happily on every regular pubnight. Please don't go and see this show, so that the seats remains empty and this show is gone rapidly to make room for whatever...it can only be an improvement for the Shaftesbury ! |

On Friday, which was our wedding anniversary day, my wife surprised me with the tickets for the musical. The tickets were for the 7.30 show last night and when we entered the theater at about 7.10 it was more than two thrids full. By the time the show started it was fully packed.
Frankly, though I am an ardant fan of Boney M and other Frank Farian productions, I had not expected much as I wondered how the Boney M and other Frank Farian ... read more music could be used in a musical in a meaningful way. But the musical turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Thanks to the creative team, all the songs have been perfectly placed in scenes matching the plot and mood of the elements very well. The choreography is fully energetic and entertaining. The plot, though simple, has all the elements including romance, fun, comedy and sorrow. I enjoyed the way some numbers have been used especially 'Take the Heat off me', 'He was a steppen wolf', 'Baby dont forget my number' and 'Daddy Cool'. I am sure all the Boney M fans will come across some pleasant surprises towards the end, which I don't want to disclose and hence spoil the thrill. The audience apparently enjoyed the whole show and there was huge applause at the end of each number.
When we left the show we decided to watch it again. I feel every Boney M and music fan should watch the musical if they can. I stumpled upon the DiDi Zill's book at the merchandise and grabbed a copy of it. I costs ?29.90 and is cheaper than buying from Amazon.co.uk where it is listed at over ?50.00. They also have Daddy Cool T-Shirts, caps, mugs, and key-rings for sale. Magic of Boney M Posters were on sale too, though the print quality is poor.
It is really a great musical. It is great that we have the Magic of Boney M around us and yet it is LIVE.
Enjoy the show.
