interesting take on a great story and musiacal Review by: rob, Apr 15, 2007 |
| having been a fan of the bob fosse film version of cabaret wasunsure quite what to expect of a stage version.however was pleasantly surprised with some of the production.honor blackman and francis matthews played their parts very well in a significant change to the film version of the story. one criticism in the first half was a slight lack of a hint of the nazi involvement to come with only the song tomorrow belongs to me making a great ending ... read more to the first act.thought the music aand stage sets were well designed and produced also. the second half was excellent as the story came into its own.having wondered how they would end the musical thought they came up with a great finale with the nudity designed to depict the holocaust was superb well done to the producers and cast who i think played all their parts very well |

Poor casting for Sally, but worth seeing Review by: Stella, Mar 4, 2007 |
| I would love to see this again with someone other than Anna Maxwell Martin as Sally. I can't even express how disappointed I was at her performance-- the singing was marginal, she looked extremely uncomfortable throughout the show, and her whole appearance just wasn't in keeping with the role. The rest of the lead characters were excellent, and of course the story is phenomenal, but by the end of the first act I had come to dread Maxwell ... read more Martin coming on stage again. |
