He was supposed to be speaking in Italian Review by: Adam, Apr 28, 2011 |
The play is Spanish and the protagonists, Paulino and Carmela, are Spanish. However, a large feature of the play is Paulino's attempts to converse with the Italian 'lieutenant' in broken Italian. If this was not made clear, the version you saw must have deviated from the original script.

Avoid it! I tell you why. Review by: Linda, Nov 10, 2006 |
Very bad. We left after the 1st break. One of the actors, supposed to be Spanish speaks more Italian than Spanish. Maybe he and the director thinks they are the same language? They are not! What ignorance for a city like London. The whole play is a boring conversation between this actor and another actress. No suspance, no commedy, no romance....
I would not reccomand it. I am very disappointed. Many other people left the theatre even ... read more before the break.
At least, please dont speak Italian if you are suppose to be Spanish - a piece of advice from an Italian in London. Beside, when the actor spoke in English, he did so sometimes with an Irish accent and sometimes very British.... |
