Funny Review by: tele, Jun 24, 2008 |
Avenue Q rocks! I am in my late twenties, so maybe that has something to do with it, but I absolutely LOVED this show. The songs were really witty and made me laugh. The puppets actually worked well for me, and though some scenes were awkward (definitely not appropriate for children), I had a great time. |

Funny show, excellent music, definately see it again. Review by: Doodles, Mar 10, 2008 |
Amazing show for adults, laughed all the way through and the songs were excellent, some knowledge of American way of life is needed for some of the jokes, but even if you don't know anything about America it is still worth going to see. I loved it so much that when I went to New York (I saw it in London first) I dragged a friend along to see it on Broadway and enjoyed it even more the second time, my friend enjoyed it as well.I used a discount ... read more voucher from Broadwaybox at the box office and got a better discount than the ticket place around the corner. MUST SEE SHOW!!!! |

| Stunningly well performed, written, with a great excuse to portray life as it is! Loved it! Along with Wicked (and soon Spamalot), the West End is changing for the better....thank god! |

Out Of This World! Review by: Bectora, Sep 17, 2006 |
| I have waited 2 years to see this show (having been to New York and failed to get tickets due to it being a sell-out) and was absolutely knocked-out by its sheer brilliance. The cast are truly phenomenal - the way the actors manipulate the puppets, and the interaction between the humans and the furry cast really does have to be seen to be believed. The songs are crazy, funny and endearing, the characters are (ironically) so real, and the nods to ... read more certain parts of the cultural infrastructure of American TV culture is sheer brilliance. In a bizarre twist, the puppeteers are overshadowed by their hairy co-stars, and yet, they manage to co-exist and complement each other in such a way, that you take on board all of the emotion and drama by watching BOTH at the same time, and you genuinely care for what happens to these mad little puppets. The "full puppet nudity" and the hammer and tongs sex scenes are genuinely startling and almost obscenely funny, and it's a real hats off to the writers, producers and insanely wonderful cast. I've already booked to come and see this show again. |

An interesting show. Highly recommended! Review by: loved it, Sep 12, 2006 |
I think everyone can relate to the characters of Avenue Q, even if it is set in New York. Starting a new life, having insecurities, discovering you love what you've hated all along. Though some of the characters in the play are puppets(not the kiddie kind), you will soon forget that they are inanimate as they interact with the human characters and completely get swept up into the plot. The story takes place in a new york neighborhood,... read more, whose inhabitants are a bit dysfunctional yet form a sort of family. When a newcomer enters the neighborhood, changes begin to take and new relationships are formed. The songs are very witty and tongue-in-cheek and speak rather sarcastically and humorously about life. With songs like "the internet is for porn" and "schadenfreunde" (don't worry it is explained in the play) the play really touches on some sensetive spots in society. The play is quite graphic surprisingly, and not fit for children due to language and sexual content. The fact that it has puppets does not mean that it is in any way naive. The interesting "look" of the show, and the highly original plot and musical score make it a stimulating performance for adults. A great night out. Highly recommended. |

| I saw this show on Broadway last year - I've got my tickets for the London production - can't wait! Once word gets out - this is going to be the hottest ticket around! And no - I don't work for the production... |

Excellent. Laugh and cry at your own life as you watch them Review by: Man 40, Jun 9, 2006 |
| Excellent. Real songs about real life. Love songs, but with an edge. Being dumped, one night stands, internet porn, getting a job. Good tunes nad lyrics. Need to understand american culture to get some of the jokes. I saw it in London, June 2006 and then the ticket prices were 10 GBP, 20 GBP, 30 GBP. This is very good value for a top show. I shall be seeing it agian. |
