Dead On Arrival Review by: Jessica, Mar 30, 2008 |
| Young Frankenstein is a dated attempt at vaudeville humor and just doesn't work. The jokes are stale and crass. The music is totally forgettable. The sets are okay but the actors are just lost on the stage and Roger Bart will not make anyone forget Gene Wilder. It takes about 20 minutes into the show until you realize you have been had. This is a terrible show and despite the obvious calling card of the movie we once loved, sadly, ... read more this effort does not cut the mustard. Somethings are better off left dead and buried and YF is one of them. It is Dead On Arrival. |

FANTASTIC Review by: Colleen, Mar 27, 2008 |
| I saw Young Frankenstein on March 26 with my husband and our two eleven year old children. They loved the show. It was very funny. The staging was superb. They enjoyed it more than WICKED. It was the best show I have seen in two years. |

very funny! not as good as Producers though, but would see again! Review by: broadway man, Mar 27, 2008 |
| this play was great! people who are saying they hate it, I don't even know them. although the songs really don't flow, its not as great as producers, and the price could've been cheaper, it was worth it!! I like the plot better in the movie though too. But actors are as funny as heck!! the pyrotechnics/special effects made me feel like I was there. the experience for me was awesome!!! if you don't like spending a lot of money, than don't see it, ... read more but I would reccomend it to evertone wealthy or not. MUST SEE PLAY! |

The Critics Are Wrong Review by: , Mar 26, 2008 |
| I loved this show!!! I laughed from beginning to end. Nothing sophisticated about it but the music, dancing, and storyline very entertaining and enjoyable. If you want a fun night on Broadway, to make you forget what's going on in the real world, go see Young Frankenstein. |

Put this abomination out of its misery Review by: Tapit, Mar 24, 2008 |
| I wish the show would close already because it's childish. Nothing works as the jokes are crude and juvenile, the songs unmemorable, and the directing abysmal. Nothing works except for the sets despite the genius of Mel Brooks having a very talented cast. Roger Bart is the weak link. Avoid at all costs. |

| Question: Should you see the movie prior to seeing this show or not? I know wit hthings such as Spamalot you should, but is this like that or does this carry a comprehensible plotline throughout (not downing spamalot, it was great, I just wnt to know). So... should you? |

Disappointing :( Review by: rain, Mar 12, 2008 |
This was a disappointment. When a show has everything going for it in terms of sets, costumes, lighting, cast...why does it lack energy and enthusiasm? This production spares no expense but gives no enjoyment. The jokes are tired, the songs are trite and the performances are lackluster. So, disappointing! |

Tony Award Bound Review by: tevyewannabe, Mar 3, 2008 |
| Didn't think anything could top the producers, but Young Frankenstein did the job. Extremely strong cast, great musical numbers, well produced and staged. This is a must see for everyone. Bound for a Tony. |

Half A Review... Review by: Jonathan, Feb 29, 2008 |
| Where to begin? This is a joke! And that would be on us the audience. I have never seen Broadway stoop to such lows to produce something as terrible as YF is. There is just nothing memorable about any of this. You start looking at your watch as you try to laugh at the crude jokes. The original songs, if you can call them that, are simply attrocious. If I missed somthing after intermission I really don't care as it gave me a chance ... read more to escape the torture. |

Awful Review by: Danzig, Feb 24, 2008 |
| Just awful. Just look at the votes and you can see that word of mouth is already out that YF is a lost cause. It is an amateur production in every sense of the word with Roger Bart miscast. Avoid. |

Great Review by: happyinhv, Feb 23, 2008 |
| I took my teenaged son to see this and we both gave it a 9 out of 10. The special effects were great, the actors were great, the singing was great, the songs were great. |

Don't Go! Review by: Lane, Feb 21, 2008 |

Very good show Review by: grandy, Feb 20, 2008 |
4 of us saw the show on Feb 16. It was very good...not traditional "Rodgers & Hammerstein" Broadway but very good. The show itself followed the movie and was funny and fun. But the cast was wonderful....all of them but especially the women. When Andrea sings "He was my boyfriend" it is fabulous. I agree with one of the postings that act 2 was better than act 1 but all in all, it was worth the money and a very good show. I would agre ... read more with the reaction of the audience on the night I was there. 1/2 of the audience gave it a standing ovation. The rest of the audience stayed seated as they applauded. That pretty much sums it up. |

Third time and I still enjoy it! Review by: New York Theatregoer, Feb 8, 2008 |
Worth seeing! So many mixed reviews for this show (and I truly don't understand people who say they "hated" it and walked out at intermission but I have seen it three times and my wife and I had fun each time. Yes, it's not as great as The Producers (what could be?), but the leads are all terrific, especially Roger Bart and Andrea Martin (they are worth the price of admission, alone. Plus, Sutton Foster, Megan Mullally, Shuler Hensley,... read more, and everyone else, sing and dance up a storm. The book could be tighter and a few songs are so-so, but the overall production values are spectacular and there are a couple of true showstopping numbers that keep me coming back! Also, we just caught a Wed. matinee and EVERY ONE of the leads was on! There was only one understudy on, for Igor, and he was excellent. See it for yourself and then decide. |
