EXCELLENT!!! Review by: , May 5, 2008 |
| So much fun, I'll be seeing it again. Most amazing set design and effects - more elaborate and brilliant than Spamalot. SHOW INCLUDES STROBE LIGHTS. Very fun, very funny, and every seat in the theatre is a good seat, so get tickets! |

Don't Listen to Critics!!! Review by: , May 5, 2008 |
| I loved this show!!! The acting, singing, dancing, sets, lighting, costumes, just EVERYTHING was AMAZING!!!! The highlghts of this show were diffinetely Frau Blucher, Elizabeth, Igor, and Inga. They were all hilarious and made the show even more great. I was a bit dissapointed with the actor who played Frederick Frankenstein: he didn't really stand out compared to the other actors. Also, the actor who played the Monster was an understudy, so ... read more it wasn't fair to judge him. I went to the theater prepared to be dissapointed, but I went out totally surprised. This show was SO much better than other musical comedies on Broadway such as Spamalot and Curtains. I bought the souvenir program & the CD because I loved this show so much. Finally, I would say this to anyone: NEVER LISTEN TO CRITICS!!!! |

Very Disappointing Review by: DoctorJoeE, Apr 29, 2008 |
| I'm sorry to post a minority opinion on this one, but Young Frankenstein is a tourist show, pure and simple. It is a ripoff of the movie, in the same way that Spamalot is a ripoff of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" -- but at least Eric Idle had the courage to admit (in the advertising, no less) that he was ripping off his own movie. Like Spamalot there is nothing original here, nothing to stimulate anything except fond memories of the movie. ... read more There are two excellent performances, by Shuler Hensley (The Monster), and Christopher Fitzgerald (Igor). Everyone else is very mediocre. Andrea Martin is well-cast and could be a great Frau Blucher if she would just put more effort into it -- but in all fairness, anybody playing that role will always be compared to Cloris Leachman in the movie, and will always come up short -- just as Roger Bart has no chance against Gene Wilder in the lead role. I wanted so much to enjoy this production, but I couldn't escape the feeling that Mel Brooks was mailing it in, trying for maximal profit from minimal effort. If the rumors are true that Blazing Saddles is next in line for the Broadway treatment, one hopes Mel will feel more of a need to do better justice to his comedic legacy. |

Absolutely loved it! Review by: cassie0312, Apr 27, 2008 |
| If you like the movie, you must see this show. The acting, singing and special effects were beyond what I imagined. I did not want this show to end. I loved this show so much, that I'm buying tickets for my husband and I to see it again. |

bitterly disappointed Review by: Cooch, Apr 23, 2008 |
| If you thought "The Producers" was wonderful (which I did not) then you will be bitterly disappointed with this show. If, like me, you felt that the Producers was only funny because it made FUN of people, then this show will make you laugh...if you are 12 years old. If erections and flatulance are things that still make you "giggle like a school girl" then by all means...dive in. I'm so over these "cookie cutter" type productions...Do ... read more yourself a favor...challenge yourself. Go see the revival of "Sunday"...go see "Spring Awakening"...go see "A Catered Affair"..., go see "Hairspray" for that matter...at least it entertained without insulting the audience. |

A Broadway Spectacular Review by: ALS, Apr 21, 2008 |
Terrific show that is entertaining from start to finish. The cast is superb, the sets are spectacular, and even the lighting and sound are done to perfection. You can clearly see the effort that went into making this show work so well. The only word of caution is that, like the movie, there is a lot of sexual humor in the show (which is hysterically funny). But if you're taking the kids, much of it will (hopefully) go over their heads,... read more, and you may have some embarrassing moments. To get a taste check out the song "Please Don't Touch Me" (sung by Megan Mullally) on iTunes. It will give you an idea of what to expect. Overall, my family (including my 12- and 14-year old) enjoyed it enormously--I even bought the sound track--and I hope to see it again!

Absolute Positive Must See!!! Review by: JB, Apr 20, 2008 |
| Having seen the movie, I wasn't really sure that a Broadway musical of Young Frankenstein would be any good. I am happy to say I was wrong. The timing was perfect, everyone played their part to absolute perfection and it was very funny. You must see this show. |

Pleasantly surprised!! Review by: susan, Apr 16, 2008 |
My husband and I saw this show tonight with the Broadway Box discount. I read the reviews and was a little afraid we were wasting our money, even though the tickets were were a very reasonable price. We were totally surprised that we loved the show. It was a hoot from start to finish! The cast was fabulous. The songs were full of clever lyrics. Those who didn't like it must not have a sense of humor, and I am not even a big Mel Brooks fan.... read more. So people reading this. Buy your tickets and go see this! You won't be disappointed. The entire audience laughed and had fun the whole night! |

Miscast?????? Review by: Barrett, Apr 11, 2008 |
| How could you say Roger Bart was miscast??? I thought he was the best one on that stage. That guy knows what he's doing. He has an amazing talent that not many have. I enjoyed the show and can not wait to see it again. |

Time to say goodnight... Review by: Hammertime, Apr 8, 2008 |
| Mel it is time to hang it up and say goodnight. How can you have your good name attached to something as awful as this. We go to the theater to be entertained. A High School play is better than this. What a waste of talent? And those songs! Not one memorable song among the whole group except for Puttin On The Ritz which is as old as Mel. There were so many empty seats after intermission that it was embarrassing. Don't go! |

No awards for this show Review by: Honest Appeal, Apr 4, 2008 |
| Did we see the same show? Tony Bound? Maybe Tony the cabdriver but certainly this show is unworthy of any awards. It is a total bust despite a talented cast. The songs are beyond terrible as a fifth grader could write better lyrics. There were many empty seats noted after intermission. This was a terrible waste of my time as I kept looking at my watch mercifully waiting for it to end. |
