Crazy mad fun Review by: Jeff, Jan 23, 2008 |
| I'm crazy mad for this show. I've seen it 13 times & plan on going again. From the music to the dancing to the story, and especially to the cast this is the most fun you will ever have at a Broadway show. |

Xanadu....DO SEE IT!!!! Review by: Rick, Jan 22, 2008 |
| I saw this show on a trip in November 2007 (yes, during the strike). I was looking forward to it and was not let down. It was well worth it! Everyone was fabulous, but have to say that Jackie Hoffman and Mary Testa stole the show with their comical one liners. I loved the songs, having remembered them from the movie. The only downside was I wished it was longer!!! |

Xanadu Review by: Tom Bestor, Jan 2, 2008 |
If, after the intellectual gymnastics required by "Rock 'n' Roll," the schoolboy attention required by "The Farnsworth Invention," or the menacing familial kerfuffles of "August: Osage County, you are looking for a giant bouffant of cotton candy as a sort of palate refresher, you couldn't do much better than "Xanadu." Yes, that "Xanadu," the Olivia Newton-John film that is widely-regarded as one of the worst movies ever made.
Kerry ... read more Butler plays the Olivia Newton-John role, Cheyenne Jackson steps into Michael Beck's role, and Tony Roberts fills in for Gene Kelly. All three have serious comic chops (especially Cheyenne Jackson) that, when combined with a smart script (filled with generation-crossing pop culture references) from Douglas Carter Beane ("The Little Dog Laughed" and "As Bees In Honey Drown), make for a 90-minute long smile plastered to the faces of everyone in the audience. That's not even taking into account the show-stealing antics of New York comediennes Jackie Hoffman and Mary Testa, who turn the ELO-penned "Evil Woman" into the highlight of the night.
It's silly, it's splashy, it has more mirror balls than all of downtown New York had in the late 70s -- but it's a helluva a good time. |

An Unexpectedly amazing Show! Review by: Yabba Pappa, Dec 23, 2007 |
| Originally I did not plan to see this show, but a certain member of our family insisted we see it after talking to people outside of the tkts booths. BOY was I surprised! It was actually a good show! script was okay, acting was amazing, especially Cheyenne Jackson, he is prone to get a tony nomination. It was hilarious as well, and I loved the music. I never saw the movie, and I don't want to because I fear it would ruin my paradigm of the show. |

I've seen it four times... Review by: Louis, Dec 4, 2007 |
Like many, I thought this was going to be a major train wreck (you know, the kind you have to look at). So, I went to see it. Since then, I've seen it three more times, and it only gets better. This show is basically a parody of the horrible movie, but delivered at the right time and at the right place. At the core of the parody is a message to Broadway and to the arts in general: What happened to originality? to inspiration?
Smartly,... read more, the show retains the brilliant music of the movie. Even better, the producers have found performers that are in a league of their own. Kerry Butler is brilliant as Kira. Her voice just shines and rivals 80s Pop Queen Olivia Newton-John. And she roller skates most of the show!!! Cheyenne Jackson is also brilliant and leagues above his movie counterpart. The remaining cast is spectacular, in particular Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman. WOW! They are funny and have amazing voices. Curtis Holbrook and Andre Ward also deliver. So many great performances you can't help but be entertained.
Xanadu the movie is easy to poke fun at, but I was surprised at how artfully they did it and were able to create an story that stands on its own.
It's also the only show I know that you can get a seat onstage. What an experience. And yes, I am planning to go again. I think I've become a "fanadu". |

Love a good voice and upbeat fun Review by: Patty V, Nov 18, 2007 |
| Saw this show yesterday 11/17/07 and we enjoyed it. In the midst of the strikes on Broadway this upbeat show was a joy. It was well acted, has clever humor and the lead man has a marvelous voice. So glad we choise this show out of the few that were playing on Broadway. Bravo! |

Movie=Blah Show=Wow! Review by: MsActress2U, Nov 17, 2007 |
| I was VERY surprised when I saw the show. I have seen the movie and thought it was the worst movie ever. I must admit I only wanted to see it because of Kerry Butler. If your into a show that's not that deep, want a good laugh, and you were alive during the 80's it's the show for you!!! |

A total blast!!! Review by: likembrave, Nov 16, 2007 |
| As replacement tickets for The Little Mermaid because of the strike, we decided to go see Xanadu. And oooooh what a great choice!!! Fun, fun, fun! From the familiar songs to the campy roller skates, this show doesn't take itself too seriously and is an absolute blast. With tongue firmly planted in cheek, the dialogue is hilarious and the singing is fantastic. |

Xanadu A Great Show!! Review by: CC, Nov 15, 2007 |
I have seen Xanadu twice and would love to see it again. It is a fun show to see. The cast does a wonderful job, especially Kerry Butler. Her voice is truly amazing. She should get a Tony for her performance. |

loved this show Review by: , Nov 12, 2007 |
| I am an avid theater goer...I saw Xanadu Friday night...what a treat. The actors were engaging, funny and quite talented. The muses were hysterical! I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never seen the movie. I was pleasantly surprised. If possible to purchase, the stage seating looked liked it would have been fun. We saw Sonny's understudy, boy is he cute and what a voice! I don't think that children would get the humor of this show though..... read more..I am glad I did not bring mine. |
