Stage seats the best deal on broadway Review by: Sue, Apr 14, 2008 |
| Saw Xanadu for the third time this weekend. Went with 4 girlfriends and sat on the stage. This has to be one of Broadways best kept secrets. Sitting on the stage at one of the funniest, happiest shows on Broadway. And for only $41.50. If this show does not leave you giddy and singing the songs I can only think that you are very jaded. I have never seen an audien ce give a standing O as enthusiastically. Bravo to everyone involved. Can't wait ... read more to see it again. |

Almost there Review by: hayman f, Apr 8, 2008 |
A cute funny musical that you really wish would up the voltage. I felt like the were almost there. The songs were great but in retrospect it was me making an effort to enjoy them. The plot is about an angel who comes to help a man acheive his dream and they open a rollerderby. And there is a subplot about the owner of the roller derby that misses a women from the who it is implied was also that same angel. I guess it worked in the show ... read more though later going over it I still didn't really get it. My wife enjoyed it, which is the most important thing! |

Review by: Craiggers38, Mar 21, 2008 |
| We saw the matinee on 3/15 - very fun and entertaining. It's played very broadly (purposely campy)and I heard some people commenting that it was too broad for them, but you can't please everyone. It's a parody of a notoriously bad movie, but as such it works because it doesn't take itself seriously. The singing (particularly by the leads) is first-rate. The dancing (with yes, some of it on roller skates) is also first-rate. The music is ... read more '70s/'80s light pop rock, which I love. |

Really Really Great; "Oh My God!" Review by: Marlee, Mar 10, 2008 |
Just saw Xanadu and it WAS FANTASTIC...anyoine who says otherwise was alseep or doesn't really understand Musicals on Broadway. The entire cast was talented, filled with little side nuances and great facial expressions from all Cheyenne"s vocals were beyond AMERICAN IDOL: he will continue to go far. Don't miss it. Four of us sat center mezz. to right side and seats were good there. Center mezz. about head high to actor's hieghts would ... read more be even better. I am hoping upon hope tht it comes to D/C.'s Kennedy Center or Baltimore's Hippodrome. zi hope for long run too...this cast was perfectly selected to do this playbook together....all actors very talented and loved doing what they do/did!

Don't wait, buy tickets today for the most fun you will ever have! Review by: VEG, Feb 28, 2008 |
| An exceptional cast led by the beautiful Kerry Butler and the hunk-a-licous Cheyenne Jackson, supported by a fantastic ensemble including the divine Mary Testa and the scene-stealing Jackie Hoffman turn the power ballads of ELO and the Olivia Newton John songbook into a dazzling tour de force, directed by the magnificent Christopher Ashley with a glorious book by the genius, Douglas Carter Beane. Fun for young and old, this Broadway musical ... read more knocked my socks off. I can't wait to see it again. And did I mention how great the cast is? And the musicians rock the house!! The most fun you will ever have sitting down! |

Terrrible show!! Review by: amanda, Feb 27, 2008 |
| This show was a HUGE disapointment. In fact im in shock that so many reviewers on here said it was a great show! I read the reviews on here and was excited to go see it but it was a huge waste of time! Let me say that I am in my early 30's and loved "The wedding singer" and love "legally Blond"..they were both funny energetic shows! Xanadu is NOT! Its got basically only one set..there is nothing visual about it. The characters all make fun ... read more of the show and themselves during the show. If they had done the show seriously it would have been halfway better..The lead actress makes fun of herself..she makes fun of her own fake australian accent..and tries to sing goofy. The lead male that she falls in love with clearly prefers males in real life..so it made the love story between them VERY unbelievable. Also there are 3 men in the show that play females which i found distracting. They even joke during the show that this musical is a ripoff of the movie and only gay 40 year olds would want to see it!! I would not go see this show...it was just very disapointing!!! I knew the lead actress from her temporary role on my soap opera and i thought she would make the show great but there is noone that could make that sorry excuse for a musical good! I would recomend grease, legally blonde, curtains, the little mermaid, phantom of the opera etc! But NOT xanadu!! |

Loved it!!! Review by: Sammy jo, Feb 23, 2008 |
| This is an amazing musical!! It is silly, crazy, weird and it's all done on roller skates! Kerry Butler was amazing as Clio/Kira. Her "Australian" accent is hilarious. The show is so bright and cheery after seeing it you will want to throw on some leg warmers and strap on some roller skates and party! |

Don't Bother! Review by: DCF, Feb 22, 2008 |
| I went to see this show on Feb. 20th hoping to be wowed, but I was utterly disapointed. I felt the story line was very weak and the acting was poor. Kerry Butler's thin nasal quality was somewhat irritating not to mention her horrible Australian accent. However, I thought Cheyenne Jackson had a very good voice. I also found the set very lackluster and certainly did not add anything to the overall production. I wouldn't waste my time or money ... read more on this show. |
