Unfortunate Review by: Bob65, Apr 7, 2011 |
| It's a good thing Spiderman was here to take the flop spotlight away from Wonderland. For two years this mess has been in the making. They finally changed some of the story about a week before previews began. It tries to dazzle with special effects-- which really are not that dazzling. Costumes are total rip-offs of Wicked- except not as good. The story lacks HEART, clarity and care. The dialogue is stinted and boring. The music ... read more is forgettable and you will be thumbing through your program and planning your grocery list 10 minutes into it. There is no imagination so kids are bored and adults will wonder why they spent $400 on this family event.. It really is too bad that shows like this make it as far as they do especially with the money that has been spent and efforts put in. A waste of performers talent, musicians, tech - who are just grateful to be working. Next time PRODUCERS-- when you have 50 million to "play" with..I would suggest making sure you have a show that people care about and that has earned it's stripes before your ego kicks in and you drag it to broadway. |

A Broadway Extravaganza Review by: JeffNJ, Apr 7, 2011 |
| My idea of a great Broadway spectatcle, in the tradition of Wicked. Wonderful special effects, great performances, music that kept me singing for hours. It was a great adaptation of the classic story, done with humor, taste and relevence for today. I see everything on Broadway and this show really stands out as inventive, clever and fun. I will see it again. |

What a mess. It was painful to sit through it. Review by: , Apr 6, 2011 |
Ok, come on, the good reviews here must be inside jobs. This show was painful. I hate writing bad reviews, as I am sure a lot of people worked their buts off to make this show, but the show sucked. Let me say something good. The little girl was a good actor. The set and lighting was ok. Maybe they actors and actresses were having a bad day and missing a few notes, but then they all were missing them, and calling ... read more it a few notes was generous. I once read about a show that was doing poorly and called in a heavy hitter to help fix it. When they asked the producer/ consultant what to fix, his answer was forget it. God knows how they could fix this mess, but who knows. Hope this helps. J

Fun filled musical entertainment for All ages!! Review by: , Apr 5, 2011 |
What a wonderful adaptation of the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland. This production gives an interesting spin on the story. In this version Alice is an adult school teacher who is struggling with marital and economic difficulties. She and her eleven year old daughter are forced to move in with Alice's mother in law at her Queens Apartment. When she journeys down the cargo elevator of this Queens apartment building, she finds herself in ... read more this strange and magical place. The cast is phenominal in their creative and musical portrayal of the classic characters. The sets and costumes are beautiful and humorous. The musical performances will touch your hearts. This is definitely a treat for the entire family. This production will truly warm your hearts. Strongly recommended.

AMAZING SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review by: Dave, Apr 4, 2011 |
All I can say is Hey Sister get your Act together and Tell Priscilla to try and CATCH ME IF YOU CAN because I will be at Wonderland. Hillarious, heart warming and one of the best scores Broadway has offered in years. Janet Dacal and Darren Ritchie are top notch and Wildhorn's score is A M A Z I N G.! |

Not worth the 50% discount -- or Free either. Review by: Old Sarge, Apr 3, 2011 |
I liked this show from the start --- for about 10 minutes -- but it very quickly deteriorated into an annoying mess. The story, despite being grounded in a classic book, is just all over the place. The music is too often shouted rather than being sung, the sets are first rate but that doesn't save the show. There is more than one way to get a thundering response from today's Broadway audiences. One way, as with "How to Succeed.." is to ... read more perform brilliantly. The other way is to shout out a song at top volume and hold your hands over the head like Moses at the Red Sea. This works EVERY time it's tried. A cheap trick, tried 5 times in Wonderland. Not worth the 50% discount most of us paid. Not worth a comp ticket either. |

Just a terrible show, Don't go,stay far far away Review by: Pat, Apr 3, 2011 |
| Saw it Saturday with friends. I have seen many many broadway shows. Never wrote a review before, but had to for this show. Never see this musical. It was terrible. The songs were so disappointing, actually they were just bad. The actors had great vpices and the set designs wereexcellent, but the music just kept coming back and destroyed the eveing. Save your money and time. Don't see this |

I'm going back to see this again Review by: Brian, Mar 31, 2011 |
| Wow! I saw it in previews last weekend and loved it! I am not a Broadway expert (this was my 4th show), but I liked this one much more than any other. It was colorful, fun, the singing was amazing and it was funny. If this is community theater (like other reviewers say) "Oh, what an amazing community!" |

Must-see musical of the season so far. Review by: BroadwayLuvr, Mar 31, 2011 |
| A must-see! I must say I was a bit skeptical going in. It seemed like a show that should appeal only to kids, but I was so pleasantly surprised by the music, costumes, staging, dancing, acting. Everything. I don't know why some people are dissing this show--I think it's the cynical, hard-hearted among us--but this show had everything you'd want in a musical and more, including a message that resonates in today's chaotic world. Kate Shindle,... read more, Karen Mason, Janet Dacal, and everyone else was top notch. Several songs that had me humming on the way out. Better than anything I've seen this season. I especially liked the little girl who played Chloe--what a voice for an 11-year-old! Go see it and you'll have a great, great time. |

Fun Show Review by: sblackman, Mar 30, 2011 |
| Totally Enjoyable - Saw it on the second night of previews - not the best on Broadway, but worth seeing. Great voices; amazing sets and costumes. Just felt it was a little too long. Great for a night out with the family. |

ALICE IN WONDERLAND MEETS BOYS IN THE HOOD Review by: nickydogs75, Mar 29, 2011 |
I went with3 ADULTS AND 2 CHILDREN and not a one had a good word to say about this political correctness of a classic gone boring and tasteless I frequently go to Broadway and have been involved in community theatre.THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN ON BROADWAY. FROM THE IL GATTO CHESHIRE CAT TO THE PSEUDO MICHAEL JACKSON DANCE NUMBERS., TO THE TRANSVESTITE DANCERS-..UGHHHHHH It's all special effects, the addition of ... read more PC characters, and no Broadway lyrics or plot. It's a plastic form of indoctrination, complete with political comments even about Alice's tea party, with the negative innuendo about the Tea party of today's politics. Is this really entertainment? The couple next to me left and at intermission not to return as did many others.IT'S TOO BAD AS THE ACTING AND SINGING TALENT WERE THERE, BUT THE STORY LINE AND SCRIPT WERE AN ABOMINATION.SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SEE ANYTHING BUT THIS SHOW |

Potental to be a good show ruined by book. Review by: rksblueyes, Mar 27, 2011 |
I saw the show during the preview period.. There is alot to like, but show show is hindered by a weak book. Any attempts at humour was sure missed by the audience. The book reminded me a cross between Wicked and the Wiz, but not as good as either. There were some pluses.... The acting by all is wonderfull. The sets and staging great. Best of all was the score, some beautifull melodies and catchy songs. If the book can be salvaged ... read more there might be a chance for the show to do well. |

Entertaining from Start to Finish, and a Good Choice for Kids Review by: monkeybiz, Mar 27, 2011 |
The singing, choreography, and costumes are all fabulous imo, and I found the acting and dialogue more than entertaining. It's a colorful spectacle that makes for one very fun night out. Our audience was more than enthusiastic during the encore. As far as it being kid appropriate, it certainly is. I noticed many from roughly age 8 and up, although, as with any show, I suppose it takes a certain kind of youngster to sit through an entire ... read more b'way show. But you can safely add this to the short list of such shows, not too far behind Lion King and Mary Poppins. |
