Wonderland:Into the Rabbit Hole Review by: othergreengirl, May 14, 2011 |
Two weeks after seeing this show, I am still reeling from the horror of it all. This is, hands down, the worst show I have ever seen. I literally felt as if I had fallen down into the rabbit hole, and had no chance of getting out of it. This show consisted of a very nebulous plot line, a weak, almost non-existent script, and some very poor music. The choreography was truly forgettable, the costumes were ok, but not ok enough, and the ... read more humor(if you can call it such) was downright cheesy. Wonderland is closing tomorrow. I feel badly for the cast and crew who no doubt worked to make something good out of something bad. I have no pity at all for Frank Wildhorn, who has apparently played his full hand with Jeckyll and Hyde. Just putting this on the Broadway stage is an insult to the rest of Broadway. |

SEE THIS PLAY BEFORE IT CLOSES - IT'S WONDER-FUL Review by: MADHATTER, May 13, 2011 |
| GO SEE THIS PLAY ... NOW!!! My husband, daughter and I went to see this show in Previews and we had such a great time. What a FANTASTIC show. The ACTORS are PHENOMENAL. The MUSICAL SCORE is AWESOME. The only disappointment to us was that the programs weren't printed yet (as we are avid theatre-goers and like to collect the programs) and we always like to buy the CD after we've seen the show if we like the music. I can tell you, ... read more we still don't have a program (other than the playbill), but we did download the entire Wonderland CD and we listen to it constantly and we smile as we relate each song to what was happening at that time in the play. My daughter's favorite character was The Mad-hatter (as is the song). But, getting back to the play itself, it was FUNNY, it was HEARTWARMING, it was WONDER-FUL. It's message is LOUD and CLEAR ... Live and Enjoy and Be Thankful for the simple things in your life. Life is what you make of it. Life is enough of a rat-race - don't let it pass you by. GO SEE THIS PLAY BEFORE IT CLOSES. My husband, daughter and I were truly saddened when we heard the show was closing. I don't know what show some of these other 'reviewers' saw, but it wasn't this one. |

Sad Wonderland Review by: 4TheLoveOfTheater, May 10, 2011 |
Sad to see anything close after such a short run. But, I called this right after seeing it. It's a shame for those amazingly talented performers, stage hands and investors. The book was the complete downfall of this "could have been" musical. They had the talent, money and music. But without a cohesive story, there's not a show that people care about. That's what it all comes down to. Give us a show with characters that we care about.... read more. I'm really surprised that they're thinking about a tour. That's exactly what I would do... take a bomb on the road. I really hope they examine where the show lacks (book) and change it for the better before anyone else wastes any more money or time. It's not without hope, but with 2 out of town trials... didn't anyone on the creative team lean over and say... "Um, I don't think this makes sense." I hope the cast finds other work before this tour launches. Best wishes to you all... you did the best you could with what you were given. Onward and upward! |

Don't Be Tardy, Go See Wonderland! Review by: Theaterlover, May 7, 2011 |
| I thought this show was GREAT!! I saw it twice on back to back evenings. My first choice on Tuesday evening was to get tickets for "Billy Elliot" but the show was sold out, so I thought i would try my luck at the Lottery for "Wonderland" What a GREAT choice!! First off, the lottery is held in front of the box office, in the alley way on 46th st. I went the first night myself and won the lottery easily(there was only 20 people there LOL), ... read more then I took my 8 yr. old daughter and wife the next night and all 3 of us won the lottery that night. We all really enjoyed the show. It was pure fun, a little weak for a broadway musical but if your looking for a FUN show to see and are not real critical Wonderland is the show to see! The cast is EXTREMELY pleasant and took time to sign autographs, take pics with my daughter, AND chat with her a bit before leaving for the night. I am thinking of trying my luck again in June and take my mother to see the show for her birthday. GREAT JOB WONDERLAND CAST!!! |

Great show Review by: Lylia, May 5, 2011 |
| This is my first review because I was pleasantly surprised by the show, and felt many negative reviews do not do it justice. My expectation was very low given all the reviews I read. However, the show turned out to be great. The music is well written and catchy. All the actors are well cast except for Alice, who is a little boring. Love Chloe, Mad Hatter, and the Knight. The storyline was not bad. A little all over the place, but the main ... read more plot is being developed in a good pace. It's a fun show for younger crowd. This is the best newer show I have seen this year, and I enjoyed it even more than Memphis. |

Tedious Wonderland Review by: Kitty, May 3, 2011 |
| Alice is miscast. While I adored Janet Dacal, In the Heights; she takes away from the theme. The show drags and is tedious with all the political innuendos. There were a few great numbers like "Off With Thier Heads" & "Hail the Queen". The music, set design, lighting design + art work & projections rocked. This show lacks the WOW FACTOR! iT IS ONLY GOOD FOR KIDS. |

Search for something else Review by: Anony., Apr 27, 2011 |
| I've seen many Broadway shows throughout the years but I've never felt compelled to write a review. Unfortunately, this is not a pleasant one. I don't understand how this musical is receiving so many positive reviews on here. I went into this show with an open mind, knowing how harsh the critics have bashed this musical, but still, I hoped for the best. I was left disappointed and feeling completely unaffected by the show. There were a few fun ... read more numbers (I loved Through the Looking Glass and Off With Their Heads) and I LOVED the girl who plays Chloe (what a talent!!) but overall I felt myself zoning out, or simply, just feeling disinterested. Throughout most of the show, I couldn't help but laugh at how terrible some of the numbers were. Was the boy band number really necessary? Don't get me wrong, this show is perfect for kids, there's no doubt about that, and it does have a positive message, but this is the first show I would not recommend to anyone unless they had siblings or kids. I really wanted to like this musical, I did. Unfortunately for me, it was a disappointment. |

Wonderland is Wonderful Review by: Mr. C, Apr 27, 2011 |
| My wife and I saw the show today. It was excellent;the entire production was flawless. It even started on time which is highly unusual. The show is very unlifting. One flaw though minor is that you don't leave the show humming any tunes. |

Feel Bad For The Performers Review by: BroadwayRev, Apr 27, 2011 |
If you'd like to see extremely talented performers trying to climb out of a perpetually deepening rabbit hole go see Wonderland. Buy a ticket and you're held hostage in the Marquis rooting for these poor actors as they claw their way through an ill-conceived plot, poorly designed set pieces and obscure music that has limited "wowing" moments. My whole row kept looking at each other as if to say "Is this really happening?".... read more. What a waste of money, time and talent. I don't for-see any recognition from the Broadway community on this one. Wasn't surprised to see that there were no Outer Critic Nominations either. Interested to see the Tony nominations as well. I really wish there was more meat to the story because some of the performances might have garnered a nomination or two. But, that's it. The performances are ok with the material given. Sorry Wonderland cast, I hope you find more work soon - you're all extremely talented, but this show is just awful.

I suggest these very talented performers start looking for other work. Everyone in my row kept looking at each other... as if to say "Is this REALLY happening?" ; "Are you seeing what I'm seeing?". I never want to see a show fail. So much time and effort go into these things. This show backed itself into a corner and is going to have a very hard time finding it's way out of this messy hole. |
