Save your money, even with a discount Review by: JEF, Nov 5, 2010 |
THIS IS A WASTE OF TALENT, TIME AND MONEY. I was looking forward to seeing such a wonderful cast on the stage with a new play. That is not what I saw, it was a mess. It should have opened out-of -town so it could have maybe been salvaged...no I doubt it could have. The burning bed was the final straw, it stunk and so did this play. Was happy to see it closes in Jan. |

AWFUL Review by: drutas, Nov 4, 2010 |
| I was taught to respect the efforts of professionals, so this critique is about how badly the elements came together. The actors, excepting Laura Benanti, are lost. The book is nowhere to be found. The sets are too busy for the story it needs to tell and the music is watery pop without any real Spanish flavor. That's not to say all concerned didn't try, but enormous talent never came together to create a show. Avoid. |

Great cast, bad music, worse book- save your money- rent the film Review by: admire1, Nov 4, 2010 |
| Truly one of the most awful events on Broadway. Brilliant talent with a few laughable scenes. But a terrible score with a worse book. The opening number is flat which is not a good indication for the rest of the show. There is not one showstopper in the entire production. Hope they are not planning on selling cds. All I can imagine is the cast having a mantra "the show must go on" and on and on. Frankly most will probably want to delete it ... read more from their resume. |

A waste of talent Review by: Alma, Nov 4, 2010 |
This show has a racing pulse, but it lacks a brain. Sherry Renee Scott plays herself again, but this time she's out of her league. A huge waste of talent, and a major disappointment. |

"Breakdown" is THE one word review for this Broadway mess. Review by: bwaybilly, Oct 30, 2010 |
| Admittedly I saw the show in an early preview, but I do not foresee any way to salvage this mess. As a fan of the film, I expected comedic frenzy on stage. The show is, after all, about nervous breakdowns caused by men who do not deserve emotional investment. I did not, however, expect the show to induce my own. The show is the first staged CGI musical I have ever seen, and I hope it will be my last. Characters and plot are subjugated ... read more to digitized and projected images. Colors blast around the theater and actresses are suspended in a ridiculous closure to the first act. I rarely wish a show to flop. But,flopping is too kind a wish for this disaster. |

Audience on the verge ,,, Review by: BKLYNDADDY, Oct 30, 2010 |
| I attended a preview last night and although something interesting is happening on stage I'm not sure what it is. In one word CONFUSION. Pieces of scenery are constantly flying in and out, high tech video backdrop constantly changing, women in high heels constantly walking on and off, a taxi cab and then the end of the first act the Women come flying in aka Cirque d'Sole and lets not forget the burning bed and that's just ACT ONE. With ... read more Broadway's cream of the crop - Patti, Laura, Sheri & Brian on stage I sat in the my seat on the verge of a breakdown that such talents are wasted here. This "Women" needs a facelift before opening night. |

A disjointed but enjoyable mess of a show. Review by: rskblueyes, Oct 29, 2010 |
As with everyone else with I was excited by the casting of the leads of this show. I saw the show on October 28. I had read some of the reviews of this show and prepared for the worse. The curtain come up and the opening number was very enjoyable. I actually did enjoy music and lyrics. The sets, costumes staging, and chorregraphy were wonderful. Performance wise Laura Bennatti and Patti Lupone ... read more were fantastic and definetly worth the price of admission. Now the negatives...... The Book,,,, This show does not know wheter it is a comedy, farce, or drama. The plot is somewhat frentic, but not too hard to follow, Sherie Rene Scott. is so un-spanish, no attempt at an accent,. Not convincing in the serious sections of the show. She excelled in the comedy bits. Im hoping that the producers can fix what is wrong with the show before the opening. |

What a disappointment! Review by: Frank D., Oct 22, 2010 |
| When I heard the casting for Women on the Verge, I ran to the box office to get tickets. I've never wanted to see a show succeed more than this. But, unfortunately, I don't think there's much hope. The biggest problem is the music, which is completely forgettable. The second biggest problem is the casting of the lead. I love Sheri Renee Scott but there is no getting around the fact that she is way too white-bread, middle American for this role - ... read more even with a dark wig. Patti Lupone and Laura Benanti are great but even they can't save this show. It needs serious cutting, a new ending, and at least one show-stopping number. |

Skip this One! Review by: Rob H., Oct 22, 2010 |
| I walked out at intermission. Despite so much great talent the show was awful. The scenery never stopped moving and was very distracting. The songs were awful. The burning bed scene stunk up the theatre. Avoid this one! |

A Poignant Farce Review by: Legs, Oct 20, 2010 |
| Unique, very creative, well executed. The cast is wonderful; just to hear Sherri, Brian, Patti and Laura sing is worth a full price ticket. The music is both funny and stirring; haunting lyrics abound. There were no technical glitches to distract at the performance we saw so problems are hopefully over. This may not be for everyone given that it is so different, and on-stage machinations designed to define time and space can sometimes disturb ... read more the flow, but if you love the theater, go. |

Fresh, original and fun, fun, fun.... Review by: caffiend, Oct 17, 2010 |
| Saw "WotVoaNB" today. Thought it was hilariously funny, especially Laura Benanti and Patty Lupone (ok, Danny Burstein, too..) Great music that was perfect for the story, even if none of the songs are that memorable. After some of the shows I've seen recently, it's nice to see a musical with actors who can really sing. Happy to report that there were no technical glitches as previously reported. Very enjoyable. |

Original, fresh, and wonderful theatre Review by: mdbennett7, Oct 15, 2010 |
| Unique, original, fresh and fun, a wonderfully new show. Toe tapping music, great songs, performing brilliantly by Miss Lupone (of course), but the showing stealer is Laura Benanti. It’s greater to see such original work once again on Broadway. It still in previews and there were a few minor glitches (that’s why they’re called previews) but I will definitely see it again. The set and costumes designs were equally brilliant. A fun night ... read more of “original” musical theatre on Broadway. |
