Challenging Play - see it for Jann Maxwell's Great Performance Review by: BroadwayBabySawIt, Oct 31, 2010 |
| A short play (about 65 mintues long, no intermission) about a challenging topic - someone experiencing a stroke, and the aftermath. Not for everyone, and some left early at the performance that we saw, but they missed out on a superb performance by Jann Maxwell, who is really stunning as the lead character. Recommended for all families of stroke patients, and health care professionals working with them, as it captures the patient's need to ... read more be more than tested, examined and studied, it highlights that the person is still there, but trapped in a body that refuses to obey. It also offers hope of some recovery. The story of being a "wing walker" in the past is really not featured much, it is really about the stroke survivor story. Recommended for those who like challenging theater, theater that makes you think. |
