Totally Delightful! Review by: Gipsy Boy, Apr 24, 2006 |
How refreshing to have something different and new to see on Broadway. This play is like a breath of spring air after a long, cold winter. Hysterically funny and moving all at the same time. I haven't laughed this hard at a play in years. Jayne Houdyshell as the mother is giving one of the finest performances you'll see this season, and Lisa Kron, as well as the entire supporting cast, are a total delight. It ... read more will make you laugh, make you cry ,and make you think. What more could you ask for in a play? |

Save Yourself Review by: Michele, Apr 14, 2006 |
| My daughter, sister, niece and I all went to Well expecting a humorous play on mothers and daughters, and all we found was a bitter woman complaining about an average life. Not only were we all bored, but we kept waiting for the story to gain a bit of life. This was an absolute disappointment to all four of us. We also felt the description of the play was not at all what the play was, so if you are going to view it, Beware: the play Well is ... read more not at all a witty drama about mothers and daughters, but a daughter talking in the middle of the stage the whole show. |

| Both my 2 young adult daughters and I found this play disappointing, with very few moments of laughter and/or poignancy. Despite the interesting shift from traditional formatting, I felt the acting was was too "theatrical", forced in a way - with the exception of the mother, who was most realistic. Basically I was bored and uninspired by this play. |

Review by: dramaturge girl, Apr 5, 2006 |
| This is a deceptively funny and ultimately touching show about human relationships. You end up finding more layers to it as you travel home and days later. The ideas that you can't fit people into a pattern to satisfy your concept of reality, that people come to life with differing abilities and resources, and the thought that people are capable of defying terrible obstacles to achieve wonderful results are not new. But they seldom are brought ... read more home more powerfully and more entertainingly. |

| WELL is a tour de force "theatrical exploration." (Those who see the play will get the joke.) It's incredibly inventive and funny, and pushes the bounds of what expectation you may have had going into a contemporary play. The messages around family, wellness, memory, and community are extraordinarily moving. What's more important, is that you're moved in non-tradtional ways, and often find yourself at once with tears of laughter and then ... read more tears of poignancy. |

| A must see! I saw Wicked about a year and a half ago and didn't think I'd be that entertained on Broadway again anytime soon. Lisa Kron's Well definitely showed me otherwise. I'm still laughing just think about it. WELL done! |
